Rain Returns Across Kansas This Evening with More Expected Friday
Statewide
Shower and thunderstorm chances return late this afternoon and evening across much of Kansas. Rain becomes more widespread Friday afternoon and evening and can linger into Saturday morning. A quieter stretch is expected Sunday before another round of rain arrives early next week.
Central Kansas
A few showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening and tonight across central Kansas. Efficient rainfall is expected, and isolated stronger storms could produce brief heavier downpours. Activity may ease briefly early Friday before increasing again later in the day and continuing into Saturday morning.
Northeast Kansas
Northeast Kansas has a higher potential for pockets of heavier rain this evening and tonight as storms focus farther north. Additional widespread rain is expected Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. Roads could become slick where the heaviest rain falls.
Western Kansas
Western Kansas will see lighter rain on Friday as moisture moves northward, with totals generally under an inch and highest amounts in southern counties. Chances remain lower than farther east tonight, then increase Friday into Saturday morning before tapering off.
Early Next Week
Mostly dry weather is expected Sunday. Rain and thunderstorm chances increase again late Sunday into Monday and continue through Tuesday, with the best chances across eastern Kansas. Pockets of heavier rain are possible with this next system before drier conditions return later in the week.
